ONCE
Director’s Note for ONCE – The Musical
I’d like to welcome you all to our production of Once. I’ve had the most incredible experience working on this show and I cannot wait to share it with you. At its heart, this production is an embodiment of the power of music—a profound connection that binds us through art, words, and notes. Music is not merely an accompaniment here; it is the very soul of our story and the heartbeat of every moment on stage. Once follows the lives of two very ordinary people: Guy and Girl. Both characters are extremely nuanced as well as completely average. They connect under circumstances not unlike our musical score—mysterious, beautiful, funny, and at times haunting.
This production will explore that shared need for connection—a journey that is both personal and universal. By centering the musical elements not just in the score but in every aspect of the performance and design, we invite you to rediscover your own journey through music. It is a reminder that through the act of creation and the shared experience of art, we find our common humanity. In Once, every note, every pause, every visual cue is a testament to the transformative power that is music—a call to listen, to feel, and ultimately, to connect.
