High School Musical
Welcome y’all to High School Musical where jocks, brainiacs, thespians, skaters, and more inhabit the halls of East High. Here we meet Gabriella and Troy: two people trying to navigate the very beginnings of what it means to not only be yourself, but to fight against the status quo that says otherwise. I love this show! I love the music, I love the characters, I love the comedy, but what I really love is the heart. High School Musical is at its core a story about self-discovery and identity at a time in one’s life when social structures and pressures seem to be the center of one’s world – High School! As a teacher myself, I have seen this exact story play out in the lives of my students hundreds of times so getting to recreate that scenario in a more dynamic, musical, and accepting environment has been a blast! Today, I invite you to look at the world through the eyes of these young people and more than literally anything else, I hope you have a good time! We sure had a blast creating it for you! Maybe with just a little less ego, a little more kindness, and a few less limits on one’s imagination, we can encourage an atmosphere where achieving unity, honesty, and self-expression is simply the norm and not the exception. What Team?! Wildcats!!!
